Classroom Writer Terms and Conditions

1 Service operator and scope

Classroom Writer is provided by Class Room Writer Pty Ltd, an Australian private company, ABN 53 700 840 348 and ACN 700 840 348. Contact: info@classroomwriter.com.

Classroom Writer operates from Australia and may serve schools internationally. Applicable additional obligations depend on the relevant school, users and processing; website accessibility alone does not establish that every foreign law applies.

These Terms apply to the Classroom Writer website, teacher and school accounts, student worksheet links, and related services supplied by Classroom Writer. They should be read with the User Content and Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy and Data Processing Notice. Any separately agreed school contract may specify additional terms and how differences between documents are resolved.

Account holders must review and accept the applicable terms through the service's acceptance process. Schools are responsible for arranging appropriate student access and any authorisations required for learners who cannot enter into a binding agreement themselves. A student's assessment-integrity acknowledgement confirms the task conditions; it does not replace required school agreements, privacy notices or parental authorisation.

2 Educational use and accounts

The service supports worksheet creation, student responses, writing and specialist tools, submissions, exports and related educational workflows. Available tools depend on the account, worksheet settings and features enabled by the teacher or school.

Provide accurate account information, keep credentials secure, and use only accounts and permissions you are authorised to use. If acting for a school or organisation, you must have authority to do so. Do not share another person's account or impersonate another user.

Teachers and schools must choose suitable materials, set appropriate student permissions, supervise educational use and comply with applicable safeguarding, accessibility, assessment and data-protection requirements. Students should use worksheet links for the task assigned by their teacher or school.

3 Student links and access

Worksheet links and tokens may allow access without a separate student account. Possession of a link or a student name does not, by itself, verify the student's identity or authorship. Where additional identity checks are available, their scope depends on the enabled integration and settings.

Teachers and schools must share links with the intended recipients, manage deadlines and permissions, and disable access when appropriate. Notify Classroom Writer promptly if an account, link or token appears to have been misused.

4 Subscriptions trials cancellation and refunds

The price, billing period, included features and applicable plan terms are shown when a subscription is purchased or agreed with a school. Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider.

You may cancel a subscription through the available account controls or by contacting support. Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Access normally continues until the end of the paid billing period, unless a lawful suspension or termination applies or a separate agreement provides otherwise.

Payments already made are not automatically refundable merely because you stop using the service or cancel a renewal. This does not restrict refunds, remedies or other rights required by applicable law. Contact support about billing errors, duplicate payments or service problems.

New teacher and school accounts may receive one automatic 30-day trial without payment. An automatic trial does not convert into a paid subscription without a paid subscription being arranged. Any differently offered pilot or promotional access is subject to the conditions disclosed with that offer. When trial access ends, paid features require an active subscription or applicable school access.

Any price changes apply as disclosed and subject to required notice and applicable law. These Terms do not authorise retrospective changes to charges already agreed and paid.

5 User content and operating licence

User content includes worksheet material, prompts, images, resources, links, uploaded files, student responses and other material that users add to the service. Users retain ownership of content they own; Classroom Writer does not claim ownership of teacher worksheets or student responses.

You must have the rights and permissions required to upload, copy, adapt, display, share or distribute content. School access does not automatically create permission to reproduce copyrighted resources. Users must follow the Acceptable Use Policy.

You give Classroom Writer a limited licence to host, process, transmit, display, convert, export and back up your content as needed to provide, maintain, secure and support the service. This licence does not permit selling your content or using it for unrelated marketing. Personal-data processing is described separately in the Privacy and Data Processing Notice.

6 Assessment assistance and authorship

Teachers and schools decide which assistance is permitted for each task, including AI tools, external resources, collaboration, spelling and grammar tools, dictation and accessibility support. They must explain those conditions before the task and provide an appropriate way to raise accommodation needs or uncertainty about permitted assistance.

Students must not present unauthorised assistance, another person's work or automated completion as their own independent work. Approved assistance must be used within the teacher's stated conditions and disclosed when those conditions require disclosure.

Permitted dictation or accessibility support is not misconduct merely because it enters text quickly. Teacher-authorised demonstrations, quality assurance and security tests are permitted within their agreed scope and must not misrepresent a genuine student's work.

7 Activity records and integrity review

Where enabled, Classroom Writer records activity associated with an assessment. Depending on the feature, records may include timing, saves, submissions, answer-entry counts and timing, insertion sizes, browser input categories, clipboard attempts, page visibility, focus changes and window dimensions. Authorised teachers may review relevant records and exports.

These observations support review; they do not establish who composed an answer. Rapid input, a large insertion, an attached debugger or another technical signal may have a legitimate explanation. Window dimensions cannot reliably establish split-screen use or identify another application. An absence of warnings does not verify independent authorship or establish that an assessment was free of AI assistance.

Teachers and schools must consider the student's work, task conditions, approved assistance and any explanation before making an assessment or disciplinary decision. They must not use a technical flag as the sole basis for a finding of misconduct. Students should have a reasonable opportunity, under the school's procedures, to explain a signal or challenge an inaccurate interpretation.

Classroom Writer does not automatically determine misconduct or replace school review, assessment moderation or appeal procedures.

8 Optional browser monitoring

A school may separately choose to install a Classroom Writer browser extension where available. Website access alone does not install an extension or grant its permissions. Installation, device-management requirements and any monitoring must be authorised by the school and accompanied by appropriate notices and permissions.

A browser monitor may report limited technical observations, such as whether Chrome reports a debugger attached to the assessment tab, whether the browser reports automation, or whether a screen-sharing request initiated by the Classroom Writer page returned a stream. It cannot reliably identify an AI operator or detect every screenshot, recording, screen share, external application or automation mechanism. Developer tools and legitimate assistive software may produce similar signals. Client-reported records are not independent proof of authenticity or completeness.

The present Classroom Writer integrity monitor does not record the screen, audio, browser history or other applications' contents. The extension's stated permissions and collection notice describe what that version observes and reports. Any materially different monitoring requires an appropriate updated disclosure and authorisation; these Terms are not a blanket permission for additional surveillance.

9 Live teacher alerts

Where available, Classroom Writer may show an unread badge, an in-app alert or an optional browser notification when qualifying activity reaches the service. Alerts depend on successful event delivery, an active supported teacher session, browser permissions where applicable, connectivity and enabled settings.

Alerts are review prompts. Delivery is not guaranteed to be immediate, audible or complete, and an alert may arrive after the activity occurred. Teachers remain responsible for supervision and should review the underlying activity record when investigating a concern. Live alerts are not an emergency or safeguarding-response system.

10 Privacy retention and third-party services

The Privacy and Data Processing Notice describes personal-data processing, recipients, retention, security and available rights. Schools and teachers must provide required notices and obtain any required authorisations before students use the service or optional monitoring. Accepting these Terms does not replace those duties. Classroom Writer does not sell student data.

Classroom Writer remains responsible for the privacy obligations that apply to it; these Terms do not transfer its COPPA or other operator duties to a school. Where school authorisation is relied upon for children, it must be provided by an authorised school representative after receiving the required direct notice and must cover the specific educational processing. Uses outside that authority require a separately established lawful route. A student's assessment acknowledgement is not verified parental consent.

Connected school platforms, cloud storage, AI providers and external resources have their own terms and privacy practices. Users must have authority to connect accounts and send material to them. Do not send student information to a public AI service unless the school has approved that use and there is an appropriate legal basis.

Saving work, finalising a copy, downloading a PDF and handing work in through a school platform are different actions. A local save or PDF download does not itself establish that a teacher received the work. Users should check the relevant save and submission status. Recovery depends on an available valid saved copy and working authorised connections; it cannot guarantee recovery of unsaved or permanently deleted work.

Deleting a project or disconnecting an integration does not necessarily delete separately held copies in student or teacher cloud storage. Follow the Privacy Notice, the integration's instructions and applicable school retention arrangements.

11 Platform rights and prohibited use

The platform software, branding, interface and other materials supplied by Classroom Writer belong to Classroom Writer or its licensors. Use them only as permitted by your account or school agreement. Do not access private platform code or data without authorisation, clone or resell the service without permission, or interfere with other users, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

Do not use the service for unlawful or harmful material, unauthorised access, malicious code, credential theft, misrepresentation of identity or authorship, or attempts to falsify activity records or bypass assessment conditions. Legitimate, authorised testing and approved accessibility support remain permitted within their agreed scope.

Classroom Writer must not be used for covert surveillance or unrelated profiling of students. Integrity records should be accessible only to authorised people with a legitimate educational, support, security or legal need.

12 Availability suspension and termination

We aim to provide a reliable service, but features may be affected by maintenance, faults, external providers or events outside our control. We may make reasonable operational, security and feature changes, subject to applicable law and any school agreement.

We may restrict content or access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, non-payment, security risk, unlawful use or risk of harm. Where appropriate, we will explain the concern and allow a reasonable opportunity to respond or remedy it. Urgent restrictions may be needed without advance notice. Measures should be proportionate to the concern; a technical integrity flag alone does not automatically justify account termination or a misconduct finding.

Stopping use does not itself cancel a paid subscription. Use the cancellation process to stop renewal charges. Where possible and lawful, arrange export or retention of required records before closing access.

13 Consumer rights and responsibility

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts a consumer guarantee, statutory remedy or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any limitation operates only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Classroom Writer is an educational support service. Users remain responsible for their content, authorised use and educational decisions. This does not remove Classroom Writer's own obligations concerning its service, security or personal-data processing.

The service does not guarantee that every integrity concern will be detected or that a technical signal is correct. Any separately agreed school contract must also preserve rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14 Complaints changes and governing law

Contact info@classroomwriter.com about billing, access, policy or rights concerns. For a concern about an assessment decision, contact the responsible teacher or school; for a concern about the technical record or service, contact Classroom Writer through the appropriate school channel where required.

We will take reasonable steps to give notice of material changes before they take effect where appropriate or required by law. A change notice should identify the effective date and any acceptance or cancellation options required by applicable law. An assessment acknowledgement is not a substitute for account acceptance of changed contractual terms.

Classroom Writer is operated by an Australian business and is subject to applicable Australian law. These Terms do not exclude mandatory consumer, privacy, education or other protections that apply to a customer or processing activity. Unless a separately agreed contract lawfully provides otherwise, disputes may be brought before a court or tribunal with competent jurisdiction. These Terms do not require a customer to give up a mandatory right to use a particular court or tribunal.
